Sydney Harbour was the centre of celebrations this evening as P&O Cruises marked the expansion of its fleet to a record five ships. In an unprecedented move, the cruise lineÕs entire fleet spent the day on Sydney Harbour with more than 12,000 guests and crew onboard the five ships enjoying 25 live music acts throughout the afternoon. Performers included popular Australian singers Jessica Mauboy, who earlier in the day christened one of the cruise lineÕs latest ships, as well as The Veronicas, Stan Walker, Justice Crew and Samantha Jade. Sydneysiders joined in the festivities in the evening with a colourful fireworks display lighting up the sky before the ships sailed from the Harbour. The five ship spectacular began at sunrise, when the fleet met for the first time off the Sydney coastline before cruising in formation towards the city to celebrate the arrival of P&OÕs two latest ships, Pacific Aria and Pacific Eden. After entering the Harbour, Pacific Aria and Pacific Eden sailed either side of Fort Denison where Jessica Mauboy and actress Kate Ritchie simultaneously christened the ships via Twitter in a world first. The 55,820-tonne Pacific Aria and Pacific Eden each carry 1500 guests. They join the 2000-guest 70,285-tonne Pacific Dawn, the 1950-guest 70,310-tonne Pacific Jewel and the 1800-guest 63,786-tonne Pacific Pearl in P&O CruisesÕ fleet.
